Hello, I'm Markus, it's been 4-years since my last blog post...wow, 4-years, where has the time gone? No in all seriousness, I'm going to be blunt, life's been busy, work's been busy and I always knew that I was going to need something truly remarkable and unique to finally give me that push to finally lay my fingers on the keyboard to once again start up this blog post; well, Dearest Gentle Readers, on the 20th of April 2024, that push was finally given to me by the mesmerizing wedding of Dirk & Anika at the picturesque Diamant Estate; don't you just love that word "mesmerizing"? It's a word that can be used to describe so much, yet we use it so sparingly as to not cheapen the meaning, and yet for this event I can think of no term more fitting.

Now, I don't think anyone will really question me when I say that I've seen a lot of weddings, maybe someday when I'm really old and spend most my time chatting to a volleyball named Wilson, I'll use my time even less productively to try and work out that exact number, but even now I can already say with complete impunity that none of those weddings will ever be like that of Dirk and Anika's. I added the term "elegant" to their blog title, and even though most weddings do bring a form of elegance to the table, they would be hard pressed to compete with this one. From Anika's dress that fit to absolute perfection to Dirk's black suit, every element of this wedding simply spelled out the word.

Anika's vision of a Bridgerton-Inspired wedding, complimented perfectly by a grand light display of chandeliers, was brought to life superlatively by the great talents of Dané Horn and her excellent team at Veil Events, joined by My Pretty Vintage, Grand Room Design, In And Out Events Hire, Okasie Flowers and XL Events. The joined talents of all these industry professionals brought to life what Anika had been dreaming about, proving that sometimes our dreams are closer to reality than we might think.

The cakes were credited to Cakes by Alena, another vendor so remarkable in her talents that our stunning couple did two different cake cuttings, using it to open both the canapes and the reception. And, speaking of receptions, what do you do when the wedding reaches its second stage? That's right, you invite along U-One from Southern Sounds! Not only my pick for the coolest wedding DJ, but also someone I consider to be one of my biggest friends in the industry whom I admire and appreciate tremendously.

Overall, there is a lot more I could say about this wedding that finally inspired me to reopen the blog page, but give me a break, it's has been 4-years so I'm extremely rusty; I also promised to try and avoid any cheesy comments this time around about how much the wedding and the couple meant to me, because in a weird way, all my couples do in some form or another, so with all that in mind, I will simply end this one off by saying, Dirk and Anika, I truly admire the vision you put together for your biggest day and even more so that you were able to bring it to life as perfectly as you did. I also want to add, and this is from a personal standpoint, for years I had a pre-conceived notion what clients would be like that had weddings as extravagant as yours, to such a degree that I actively tried to personally avoid them, you two though, you proved me wrong; I absolutely loved working with both of you, as individuals and as a couple, both of you are kind, generous, and lovely people, who not only set the bar unreachably high when it comes to taste and class, but also managed to prove that you can remain down to earth while doing it. I truly appreciate and admire you both more than either of you realize and I speak for both Pyper and myself when I say that we cannot be more grateful that you requested us to capture your special day and memories - yes, I know, I went a bit cheesy again there in the last bit, it's a wedding blog, give me a break :p
